Media companies value your opinion. You can even influence the future British television.
Media companies must know what the public thinks and feels when new shows are released, old favorites change time slots or when presenters change. They should also know the top news services.
They survey the public in order to find out. This can be done either through a focus group or online.
Media companies asking these questions are appealing to market research firms to locate a random sample for them.
It is possible to make money by giving your opinions on television programs.
Focus groups are groups that bring together people to discuss products or services.
Focus groups are available for many things, including television. For an hour or so, attendees are typically paid approximately PS50 plus refreshments.
It is tempting to just run by every clipboard-wielding person on the streets. These people may not be charity muggers, but they are often actually recruiting people for market research.
Run if you spot the bucket of coins moving. Ask them if they have a bucket. They may be willing to lend you money if they do.

MoneyMagpie is a big fan of online surveys. These are a great way to make extra money.
Online surveys can help you earn as much as 50p or more. You may be eligible for prize draws that offer huge payouts. You can also earn points that you can convert into cash, coupons, or both.
Many online surveys will allow you to voice your opinion about the most recent television programs. It’s worth signing up for these surveys so you can make some money while watching TV.

Review TV programmes
Anyone can criticize these days.
You can spread the word about a film or series via word of mouth. So why not get involved and earn some money for your efforts?
Whatculture.com, for example, allows you to write about entertainment in a variety of media, such as TV and film. As long as the content is being read, they pay critics.
You currently get 40p per 1,000 people reading your article. Although this may not seem like much, it’s a large site with lots of traffic so a popular article could make you hundreds of pounds.
Sign up here to become a part of their team.
You could also write a blog about your favorite (or least favorite) TV shows. Once you get some traffic to your blog, you can place ads on it and start making money.

Tell your story to a daytime TV program
Although they don’t like to admit it, daytime TV shows often have trouble getting the right people on air.
You may be able to earn a lot of money to get on the show. While some show producers will pay for your participation, others only cover the cost of the show. However, it is likely that they will pay around the PS200-300 range.
This is not the right choice for everyone. A PR agency is the best way to get your story out there. While they may be paid a commission to handle your story, they will negotiate the best financial deal for you.
PR agencies can be used to act as a buffer between your and the media. They can also arrange anonymity if you want. If you need help obtaining media coverage for events, campaigns, or other issues that impact people’s lives, they can assist you.
There are many agencies, but these are the best ones to get started: Jonathan Hartley Associates, Palamedes, and Ferrari Press Agency.
Your story can be sold to newspapers and magazines. For a very juicy story, you can often make more than PS1,000. For more information, see our article about how to make money out of misery.
Make a game show format
Are you a game show creator?
It doesn’t really matter from where your ideas came, as long as they work. You can make history with a game-show idea.
It is not easy to find a good idea, but you can make it a success.
Shows like “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” and “The Weakest Link” are rerun all over the globe, and their creators make millions.
It can be very difficult to find a winning formula. Most people who make a lot of money have spent years trying to get their ideas rejected.
You’ll likely already know what makes a great game show if you are a huge fan. You’ll soon find yourself watching them multiple times per week and will be able to study them without even realising.
Make a list of what you enjoy and dislike. You can compare the success factors of different formats to help you decide what elements to include in your own creation. After you have compiled your ideas, share them with friends who watch a lot more game shows.
If you believe you have a brilliant idea, ensure you can easily explain it on A4 paper. It will be easier to understand if it is written on A4 paper.

Write a TV script
You could write for television if you enjoy drama and are able to make people laugh.
Many genres have a specific style or type script that you can find online. Or you might want to create something completely different.
While we don’t recommend that you aim for something like “Friends” or “Frasier”, it is a good idea to have a little fun, add drama, romance, and enjoy the process of writing a TV script.
All voices are needed, loud and clear
Ever thought of being the loud voice selling cars on TV or the soft purring voice explaining why life insurance is important?
To read TV commercials and radio ads, voice talent is needed. This job is for you if you are able to communicate clearly and use your voice in a friendly, persuasive, and energetic manner.
Voiceover is highly competitive. The lucrative jobs are almost always filled by big agencies. They tend to only sign up actors, celebrities, and some presenters.
There are many ‘virtual agencies’ that you can join online to bid for work.
Voice123 is one example of an agency that has hundreds of jobs. You can upload a demo of yourself and then apply for the relevant job.
The majority of these jobs are American-based, and they pay in dollars. They could be worthwhile if you are able to do them easily and have basic MP3 recording equipment.
Signing up for media promotion agencies like Voice Talent Depot is another way to get work. They accept professional voice demos to be added to their website. They offer small talent for radio and television stations, internet companies and consumers, as well as businesses.
PS250 is the perfect tool for funny home videos
Have you seen your family’s blatant video-making mistakes?
If not, can you make one?
On the ITV series ‘You’ve Been Framed’, you’ll see people falling over, babies and children doing funny things, and even crazy pets.
Each clip is worth PS250. We recommend that you send as many clips as possible – they may want more than one.
Send your clips to:
It’s simple, and you can email them to email@example.com.
You can also post tapes or DVDs to:
FREEPOSTYOU HAVE BEEN FRAMED
Within the UK, no stamp is necessary. Include your name, address, phone number, and a note explaining how many clips are being sent and where they can found on the tape/DVD.
Your tapes will be returned to you. However, it’s a smart idea to send a copy and keep the original, especially if it is not easily replaceable.
Which format should you send your clips?
Email: Send your video as a Windows Media (WMV), MPG, AVI, or Quicktime (MOV), file. Real Media Player files will not be accepted. The larger your file size is, the better. PAL format is preferable, however, if you must send it as NTSC, please indicate in your email that it is a NTSC file. Do not edit your clips. You’re Framed! You’ve Been Framed! You should not use graphics or slow-motion replays to your clip. This could make your clip unusable.
What is the time frame?
Within three months of sending your tape, you will receive a confirmation receipt card with your reference number. To minimize the chance of mishaps in the mail, it is sent back by recorded delivery. You can contact the tape dispatch company BSS at 0131 273 3042 to report any problems.
Framed will send you a letter once your tape has been returned! Framed will send you a letter informing you if you were shortlisted. Your clips will be copied and placed on the Framed! You will be asked to fill out and return a questionnaire regarding copyright and consent to use.
Although you cannot be certain that your clips will be seen, a series of clips is created each year. This means that it may take several years before your clips are selected. You will be notified by mail about the transmission date and when your clip is selected. After the clip is aired on TV for several weeks, you will receive a check with a one-off payment in the amount of PS250.
If you don’t send your tape in, we won’t be able to tell if it is suitable.
Check out the You’ve Been Framed! page for more information and tips. page.
Be a contestant
They say, “It’s not about winning, it is the taking part that counts.”
It IS possible to win if you are serious about making money.
You have the opportunity to win thousands, or even hundreds, of thousands of pounds if you are a contestant.
Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?
Ten contestants participate, with one sitting in the hot seat answering timed question. This gives them the chance of winning the PS1m prize cash. To win, they must answer 15 multiple-choice questions correctly. However, they have the option to quit at any point and keep their earnings. They also receive three lifelines.
The questions can cover everything from geography, history, popular culture, and sport. To understand the questions being asked, you will need to read newspapers and research online.
Five millionaires have been made to date by the show, with an average contestant earning just over PS45,000.
There is a waiting list for applicants to the show, so make sure you keep checking their website for opportunities to audition.
This game requires you to evaluate your confidence in answering general knowledge questions and to assign a value to that confidence. Split your PS100k and place it on trapdoors that represent each answer to a question. The trapdoors will not open on the wrong options.
Once the correct answer has been revealed, you will be able to take the money that you have placed on the trapdoor to the next round. You will continue this process until you get to the final question. You will keep any PS100k that you have left if you answer this correctly.
The show is always inundated with applicants. You can follow the application process here.
Add an extra
Do you want to appear on your favorite television show?
You can, but as an added bonus!
This is something anyone can do. It doesn’t really matter how old you are or what your appearance is. Extras agencies are always looking for people like you.
You can still make money if you are able to stand around and have enough time during the week.
Dramas, soaps, even documentaries use “walk-ons” regularly. Walk-on work can bring you between PS65 to PS200 per day, depending on how many hours you work and whether you bring your props. You also get very good food on set!
You will generally get the work through an agent. Find a list UK agencies at www.ukscreen.com. Double-check the agencies on the UK entertainment union websites Equity and BECTU.
For a complete list of available work, see our article on how to become an extra.
